About Us

Loyal Heights Co-op Preschool (LHCP) is one of the forty North Seattle College (NSC) cooperative preschools that is owned and operated by the families of the attending children.

LHCP succeeds in helping three-to-five year olds develop and learn through safe, creative, and cooperative play.

Typical activities include:
  • Free-choice play in the classroom areas: Library, Blocks, Sensory, Dramatics, Fine Motor/Science, Art/Project, Snack Table
  • Clean-up
  • Circle time activities
  • Small group time (Pre-K class only)
  • Recess
  • Good-bye Circle

Each parent’s involvement shapes that child’s early learning experiences, and each co-op family benefits from parent education and from working and playing together throughout the year.

Loyal Heights Co-op Preschool creates a lasting community of well-developed children, families, and friends.

Parent Participation

As a student of North Seattle College (NSC), parents will receive parent education from a certified parent educator once a month and receive 3 credits per quarter.

The parent educator also advises and supports the experience of parents as they practice the skills they are learning while being assistant teachers in their child’s preschool.

Our co-op participates in the Babes-in-arms policy for bringing infants with parents to the school on work days.

In a cooperative preschool, parents are integral to the success of the program.

When you join our school, you commit to:
  • Paying tuition and fees
  • Working in the classroom one morning each week
  • Performing a job such as class photographer
  • Participating in fundraising
  • Helping with classroom cleanup

curiosity and wonder in their eyes, it just can't be beat.

My goal is to always encourage that natural

North Seattle Cooperative Preschools

North Seattle College's Cooperative Preschools (NSCCP) provide parent and early education for families with children from infancy to Pre-K.

Schools are located in North Seattle and differ from traditional preschools in that they are run by parents who work in association with the class teacher and the North Seattle College (NSC) program.

Started over 50 years ago, the NSC Program offers a warm and gentle introduction to school and community life for young children and their families. Adults and children learn together, grow together, and actively build a community together and have fun.

Please visit the NSC website for more information about cooperative preschools.
